Bath bombs are much easier to make than most people think! We had considered selling them, but decided that we didn't want to ship an item that's so easily breakable.
Bath bombs make you smell good, make your skin soft, and are super fun with they fizz. Hey, we can enjoy the fizzies as adults, right? They can also be very expensive. Below you will find a simple bath bomb recipe that you can make yourself.
Recipe:
- 1 1/2 cups baking soda
- 1/2 cup citric acid
- 2 teaspoons Sweet Almond or Olive Oil
- 1/2 teaspoon water
- Scent of your choice (optional, it will still soften your skin without)
Shaping:
You can shape the bombs in a muffin tin, or in an empty Easter egg!
Ingredient Notes:
Most stores sell a selection of Essential Oils. I have seen them at Kroger and Wal-Mart. You can obviously even go to any natural foods store. I suggest to try peppermint, lavender, or sweet orange.
Sweet almond is the oil we recommend for this recipe, it's less 'oily' than olive oil and is great for your skin. You can find it very easily online. A bottle will last you a very long time considering you only use a few teaspoons in this recipe. Citric acid can be found online, or in your local grocery store where they sell the home canning goods, or pickling products.
You can add color to the bombs if you wish. Mica powder is the preferred way, since it washes clean, but you can use a tiny amount of food colorant at your discretion as long as you're careful... it may stain if you use too much.
